Lessons
Personal tuition — without the commute. Alexander Simonovsky teaches live by video and works directly with what he can see and hear: posture, technique, timing, coordination, groove and musical execution.
Your drum kit.
Your room.
Online lessons have one very practical advantage: you learn on the instrument you actually practise on. Alexander can see how your kit is set up, how you sit, how your hands and feet move and where technical problems may be hiding in your own setup.
No travel
Lessons are possible whether you live in London, New York, Tel Aviv, Vienna or anywhere else with a stable connection.
Your own instrument
You learn on your own acoustic kit or e-drums, including sensible seat height, pedal position and cymbal placement.
Direct feedback
Movements and grooves are demonstrated, repeated and corrected immediately. A teacher can identify a great deal through a well-positioned camera.
Three languages
Lessons are available in English, German or Russian — useful for international students and multilingual families.
How it
works.
The technology should stay simple. A device with a camera is enough to begin. The key is positioning: your hands, upper body and ideally your feet should be visible.
Position the camera
Place a smartphone, tablet or laptop so Alexander can clearly assess your posture and movement.
Watch, play, receive feedback
Alexander demonstrates a movement or groove. You play it back and receive specific corrections straight away.
Build it step by step
Timing, coordination or technique are broken into manageable elements and then rebuilt into music.
Continue between lessons
Depending on the topic, you may receive exercises, notes, play-alongs or specific practice tasks for the next session.
What you really
need.
You do not need a studio to start. Extra cameras, microphones and audio interfaces can be useful later, but they are not an entry requirement.
One device is enough
- smartphone, tablet or computer
- stable internet connection
- camera view of upper body and drum kit
- headphones optional
A second angle
- second camera for hands or feet
- larger screen for easier viewing
- external microphones for acoustic drums
- separate audio connection if needed
Very suitable
- quieter for flats and neighbours
- clear monitoring for the student
- audio can be routed directly if required
- movement and pedal technique remain visible
Technique is
visible.
On drums, sound is created through movement. An experienced teacher can therefore recognise a great deal on video: stick path, rebound, unnecessary tension, balance, movement economy and coordination between hands and feet.
Online tuition is not just talking about music. You play, Alexander watches, you make adjustments and you play again.
Online does not mean
impersonal.
Lessons do not follow a standardised online course. The person in front of the camera determines the programme: age, experience, instrument, musical taste and personal goals.
Start from zero
Sitting position, stick grip, first coordination exercises and simple grooves can be built up live, step by step.
Learn flexibly
Ideal if travel time is difficult to fit into everyday life or there is no suitable drum teacher nearby.
With structure
Online lessons can also work for children. For younger students, a parent can help with the first camera setup.
Focused coaching
Technique analysis, complex grooves, timing, written material, repertoire and specific musical problems can be worked on very precisely.
Lessons in three languages.
Alexander Simonovsky teaches in English, German and Russian. Online, that becomes a real advantage: location and language no longer need to be barriers.
Online lessons
without question marks.
The technology can stay simple. What matters is that Alexander can see and hear your playing clearly enough to give useful feedback.
Do online drum lessons really work?
Yes. Technique, coordination, grooves, timing, reading, repertoire and focused feedback can all be taught effectively by live video. Because of the small technical delay, teacher and student usually do not play continuously at exactly the same time.
What equipment do I need?
To start, a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, a stable internet connection and your drum kit or practice setup are enough. Additional equipment can be added later.
Can I use electronic drums?
Yes. E-drums work very well for online lessons. Alexander needs to be able to see your movement and hear the played rhythm clearly enough.
Are online lessons suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. Sitting position, stick grip, first movements, coordination and simple grooves can be explained and corrected live from the beginning.
Can my child learn drums online?
Yes, if concentration and setup are suitable. For younger children it helps if a parent assists briefly with the camera before the first lesson.
Which languages are available?
Alexander teaches online in English, German and Russian.
Can teacher and student play at the same time?
Normal video calls have a short delay. Lessons therefore usually alternate between demonstration, playing and direct correction. For one-to-one tuition this is entirely practical.
Decades of experience.
One-to-one attention.
Alexander combines a long professional career as a drummer and recording artist with individual teaching. Online lessons make that experience available internationally without turning the lesson into a generic course.
Set up the camera.
The rest begins with music.
Send Alexander a short message with your age or the student's age, current level, the drum kit you use and what you would like to learn.
